Oregon State Treasury is recruiting for the position of Legal Assistant. This position will be located in our Tigard office. The primary purpose of this position is to provide confidential clerical and administrative support to the Legal & Compliance Division (the “Division”). Most of the Division workload focuses on complex transactions and legal and compliance issues and produces a large volume of documentation. This position is represented by SEIU.

Oregon State Treasury (OST) is led by Tobias Read, State Treasurer, a constitutional officer and statewide elected official.  OST is an organization with a wide range of financial responsibilities, including managing the state’s pension fund, issuing all state debt, and serving as the central bank for state agencies.  OST manages the daily investment of approximately $100 billion in assets, held in a diversified investment portfolio of domestic and international equities, fixed income securities, alternative and opportunistic investments, real estate and cash.  OST also manages a banking program that processes over $250 billion in transactions annually, a debt management program responsible for issuing and monitoring approximately $10 billion in state debt, a multi-faceted 529 savings plan, and an IRA based retirement savings program for the public. What you’ll do….

  • Provide clerical and administrative support to Division staff;
  • Provide support and assist with document execution and closings for investment transactions;
  • Interface with investment officers, as well as outside consultants and legal and compliance professionals;
  • Open, maintain and archive files consistently with policy and legal requirements, as directed by Division staff;
  • Ensure compliance with applicable records management and retention policies, as well as calendar and track deadlines;
  • Draft and revise legal and compliance documents and correspondence under the direction of Division staff;
  • Perform word processing, transcription and data entry tasks; 
  • Assist with travel arrangements, tracking and traveler profiles for Division staff; and
  • Participate in the development, preparation and revision of resource materials.

TO QUALIFY

You must have the following:

  • Two years of clerical / secretarial experience which included at least one year as a legal assistant or secretary for an attorney or judge or performance of legal support duties (such as preparing legal documents, maintaining legal records or researching legal information).
  • Experience must include proficiency in word processing software.
