Senior Paralegal - Insurance & Employee Benefits
Duties: Assist insurance team attorneys and business partners in insurance product development initiatives. Draft and file insurance contracts with state department of insurance for review and approval. Assist with responses to internal and state audits and market conduct exams, as necessary. Legal research and analysis of state law requirements related to state insurance law. Assist attorneys with insurance contracting negotiation process. Assist attorneys with legal research regarding tax reporting and withholding laws for Empower Retirement operations. Manage tracking process for tax reporting and withholding laws for Empower Retirement operations. Other duties as assigned.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Certificate of paralegal studies; BA/BS preferred but not required. 5+ years of experience as a paralegal preferred. Experience with state insurance law. Knowledge of SERFF and electronic research tools, such as LexisNexis and/or NILS Insource is preferred. Experience with Internal Revenue Code and state tax law preferred but not required. Ability to work independently as well as with a team. Ability to maintain a high degree of discretion and confidentiality. Ability to juggle multiple tasks, establish priorities, and meet tight deadlines. Ability to manage projects and drive results. Strong organizational, time management and problem-solving skills. Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to work well in an environment where coordination and teamwork between the Legal Department and business clients is a top priority. Willingness to contribute wherever and whenever help is needed.
