Senior Paralegal The candidate will provide legal assistance on a broad range of franchise legal matters within the Franchise Contracts Center. Will resolve routine legal issues utilizing previous experience and judgment with an expected wide degree of creativity and latitude to plan and accomplish goals.Working closely with the Assistant General Counsel and other staff and paralegals in the department, provide paralegal support on a broad range of topics, including: (a) franchise contract transactions and contract management; (b) evaluating and responding to breach of contract issues; (d) tracking and handling contract renewals and terminations; and (e) other franchise matters that arise from time to time related to franchise field and operations support. Along with the attorneys and other paralegals in the department, support franchise acquisition and development activities, including assisting in the preparation of acquisition agreements and other documents necessary for closing. Provide paralegal support for franchise transactions and franchise governance matters, including assisting with franchise disclosures, transfers, and contract amendments.Provide support to franchise field management and franchise operations support teams on a variety of franchise compliance issues. Assist with administrative support to the department as necessary, including filing, record-keeping, document preparation, and other similar matters. Communicate with all levels of other departments and respond to inquiries concerning franchise contract documents and other franchise support matters. As necessary, conduct legal research and analysis on a broad range of issues. Assist in preparation of various legal reports and updates.Other duties as assigned. Bachelorâ€™s Degree and completion of paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program, or other relevant combination of education and experience is essential. Must have 5+ years of experience as a paralegal in an in-house legal department or law firm setting.Knowledge of general principles of law is essential. Proficient legal research skill is essential. Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills (with an emphasis on writing skills) is essential. Proficiency in MS Word and Excel is essential. 8+ years of experience in an in-house legal department or law firm setting is preferred. Knowledge of franchise legal principles is preferred. Understanding and previous use of a Windows-based computer system is preferred. Knowledge of or experience with DocuSign and SalesForce is preferred.
