Director - Tax Planning, Analysis, and International Purpose: Provide leadership in the management of the Company’s international tax compliance and reporting matters. Develop and maintain relationships with all internal and external constituents. Accountabilities: Reporting to the VP and Senior Tax Counsel: Build and maintain strong working relationships with Tax Department management and staff, as well as Finance, Legal, Actuarial, Corporate Development and Compliance personnel. Oversee the processes established to ensure compliance with the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act. Lead the effort to continuously improve this compliance process liaising with Operations, Treasury, Investment Management, Compliance and other impacted parties. Manage a comprehensive approach to ensure that the Company’s documentation of its related party transactions is fully compliant with all transfer pricing regulations. Maintain a process to ensure that the Company’s Bermuda and all other foreign entities are properly complying with all US and local country tax reporting obligations. Monitor all current IRS and OECD matters advising the VP and Senior Tax Counsel of matters that impact the Company’s tax posture. Lead the development of a reporting process to enable the Company to comply with emerging OECD reporting directives. Develop and maintain a process to monitor the Company’s PFIC and CFC status ensuring that the Company does not become a PFIC or a CFC. Advise the VP and Senior Tax Counsel as to any corrective action(s) that need to be taken. Provide support to the VP, Tax Controller on any international tax matters that impact the Company’s financial statements. Provide support to the VP and Senior Tax Counsel on all tax planning and IRS and state tax audit matters.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have JD degree or Bachelor’s degree in accounting. JD degree with a concentration in tax or Masters in Tax preferred. Licensed CPA or Admission to the Bar. Should have 7+ years of tax planning and analysis experience. Previous experience in the insurance and financial services industry is helpful but not required. Some international tax experience is also helpful. Have 4+ years of leadership experience. Experience in problem solving and project management. Experience working and collaborating in matrix environment.
