Job Summary:

The Senior Corporate Paralegal will be responsible for a wide range of legal and contract matters, including but not limited to litigation support, contracts management, processing of patient authorizations and subpoenas. This individual will oversee the Hospital's Contracts Database from set-up to day-to-day management. Serve as liaison Serve as liaison between Contracts Department and other hospital departments and outside vendors as concerning all aspects of the contracting process, to include the initiation, modification, evaluation, renewal, termination and expiration of all contracts. Actively track and report on department workflow and cultivate/maintain positive relationships with UMC vendors, internal stakeholders, and District of Columbia contacts through effective customer service and clear, concise communication.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform legal research and draft legal memorandum.
  • Initial review and processing of subpoenas and patient authorization prior to escalating to counsel for review.
  • Maintain accurate and complete litigation files and other legal documents; Issue and manage litigation hold memorandum.
  • Assist with collection of litigation and arbitration document requests; coordinate production request and internal witness interviews with external legal counsel.
  • Prepare Departmental meeting agenda and minutes.
  • Provide legal assistance to the General Counsel as required.
  • Responsible for initial set-up and population of the Hospital's Contract Database.
  • Responsible for intake of all types of Hospital Agreements and Contracts submitted for inclusion into the Hospital's Contract Database.
  • Responsible for tracking and submitting weekly reporting to the GC/AGC on status of all contracts including status of new contracts: inception through inclusion into Contract database and status of existing contracts: modifications, evaluations, renewals, terminations and expiration.

Job Requirements:

  • 5+ years in healthcare industry with strong office administration experience and relevant contract experience (review, administration, negotiation, drafting) is required
  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree is preferred but not required
  • Must be MS Office proficient, have database experience and be flexible in adapting to new and changing processes over time.
