Paralegal I
Duties: Researching claims/complaints in pre-litigation phase as well as with respect to matters in litigation. Basic legal research and analysis. Assisting in reviewing and drafting documents (client correspondence, agreements, responses to interrogatories, requests for admission, requests for production, affidavits, case summaries, histories, chronologies, etc). Basic management of discovery as well as reviewing legal documents. Interacting with internal clients in meetings and group projects Search/Compile legal research, and managing litigation docket and assist with drafting/reviewing pleadings. Collect, process and review of electronic discovery (e-discovery). Coordinate all aspects of hard copy and electronic document productions (scheduling, bates-stamping, photocopying/scanning, shipment, etc.) Assist attorney(s) in case management by organizing maintaining case files along with indexing and document retrieval systems from inception through matter resolution. Issuing litigation holds and maintaining litigation hold system with attorney assistance. Coordinate and draft litigation reports to counsel. Assist counsel in resolution of matters. Provides guidance and assistance with respect to service of process, subpoena and garnishment matters. Oversight and guidance relating to the company’s record retention program. Administration of outside counsel invoice management system (Legal Tracker), and pulling reports out of the system. Assists in reviewing and drafting internal policies and procedures for the Legal Department.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal certificate, and 0-5 years paralegal or related work experience Strong professional and interpersonal communication skills verbally and through written electronic correspondence. Must have excellent communication / organizational skills as well as attention to detail. Problem solving, multi-tasking and strong time management skills. Leadership skills are a plus. Preferred Knowledge and Skills: Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), litigation hold software, electronic discovery tool familiarity Level of Complexity and Scope: Entry Level to Intermediate, with some routine tasks. Degree of Independence and Decision-Making: Some independence within general direction of Supervising Attorney or more senior paralegal.
