Intellectual Property - Litigation General

Intellectual Property Litigation Paralegal The candidate will prepare and maintain (or oversee maintenance of) case files, indices, and chronologies. Monitor docket and alert attorneys to upcoming deadlines. Assemble and organize requested materials for attorney or client review. Effectively manage cases by utilizing a variety of computer applications, including databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, word processing, and collaborative tools such as Microsoft Teams. Assist in the document production process, including reviewing materials for production and/or privilege, tagging and redaction, preparing privilege and redaction logs, and utilizing document review tools for the quality control of productions. Guide clients in defensible processes applying the rules of ESI preservation and collection. Utilize internet file transfer, FTP, document security/encryption, and best practices in client data management. Interact with E-Discovery vendors, providing vendor management and quality control. Draft correspondence, memoranda, and pleadings. Coordinate preparation of motions and briefs including proofreading, cite-checking (if applicable), assembly of exhibits, filing and service. Perform investigative and background research, including witness location, and cases/legal authority gathering. Review and analyze documents, data, and depositions as required. Assist in preparation for depositions of fact and expert witnesses and attend depositions when needed. Assist with preparation for hearings and trials including managing documents to be used as exhibits, preparing witness binders, coordinating deposition designations, reviewing and organizing materials for use by team attorneys, preparing electronic presentations, and coordinating with litigation support personnel. Coordinate trial set up including all trial work rooms, and resources needed on-site at trial, and coordinate with any vendors used at trial. Provide proactive management of larger cases, including coordination of support efforts and preparation for upcoming events. Perform other responsibilities as assigned. Work additional hours as needed to fulfill job requirements.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have 5+ years of paralegal or other relevant experience in IP Litigation. Experience with matters before the ITC is preferred. Certification and formal training in an E-Discovery (ACEDS, Relativity, NUIX, etc.), Records Management (ARMA), Information Governance, or Data Privacy areas are preferred. Working knowledge with electronic filing in federal and state court and at the Patent Office for post-grant proceedings. Possesses hands-on experience or training with ESI tools and general knowledge of E-Discovery procedures and resources. Demonstrates proficiency, skills, and knowledge of the position, as well as a commitment to continuous improvement and development. Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to develop positive working relationships (in-person and virtually). Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple tasks with effective organizational skills. Proven problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills. Unquestioned integrity and professionalism. Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams). Proficient in a web-based conference call/web-sharing applications. Promote positive work habits, including effective and timely communication, teamwork, and demonstrating respect for colleagues. Contribute to providing the highest quality of service to internal and external clients.
