Intellectual Property Paralegal The candidate will assist attorneys in planning and managing worldwide trademark portfolio, including maintaining docket and portfolio records. Work closely with outside counsel and vendors to execute worldwide trademark prosecution and brand enforcement strategy. Manage trademark clearance by conducting and analyzing trademark searches and drafting opinions for attorney review. Communicate with internal clients about trademark clearance, use, and enforcement and compliance with marketing and advertising guidelines. Monitor and evaluate trademark watch notices. Gather and evaluate evidence and specimens of use. Conduct internet and social media research to identify and assess intellectual property infringement and oversee cease and desist and takedown efforts. Review press releases, promotional content, and advertising for legal issues. Manage domain acquisitions and brand enforcement tools. Assist attorneys in internal education, training, and guideline development on trademark, copyright, domain, marketing, and advertising topics.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have Bachelorâ€™s degree. Paralegal certification is preferred. Should have 5+ years of domestic and international intellectual property experience, with a focus on trademark, copyright, and brand enforcement, preferably with in-house experience. Advanced knowledge of trademark search tools (including SAEGIS and TESS), databases, docket systems, and domain management and enforcement platforms, tools, and vendors is needed. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, high motivation, agility, and resourcefulness is must. Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and risk assessment skills and the ability to exercise independent judgment in a sound and timely manner is essential. Experience with domestic and international copyright issues is needed. Notary certification is a plus.
