Paralegal The candidate supports the Legal Department and Risk Management Department. Reports to the Vice President, General Counsel. Assists company attorneys with commercial litigation and arbitration filed by or against the company, including management of outside legal resources. Conducts legal research and prepares legal documents, such as discovery responses and contracts for review, approval, and use by company attorneys. Manages and maintains all Legal Department electronic and physical files and reviews all law firm e-billing. Coordinates company responses to subpoenas, including bearing responsibility for communicating with plant personnel and collecting and producing responsive documents. Assists company claims adjusters and attorneys in managing all workersâ€™ compensation, auto liability, general liability, and product liability claims, including preparing weekly status reports of all active and pending claims. Manages all aspects of the proof of claim process in customer bankruptcies/receiverships, including being responsible for collecting records, filing claim forms, monitoring recoveries, and disseminating internal company notifications. Works with company attorneys, the Human Resources Department, and outside legal resources to investigate employment law claims and prepare company responses. Coordinates and schedules Legal Department and Risk Management Department training presentations for other functions, and assists in preparing presentations. Maintains confidentiality. Must have 10+ years in a law firm or corporate legal department. Should have paralegal Certificate. Serengeti Legal Tracker matter management and e-billing system, or a similar system is preferred. Electronic court record services, such as PACER Case Locator, to access cases and docket information is preferred. Must have exceptional computer skills, including a high proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Must have high-level written and verbal communication skills, and excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
