Science & Technology Counsel Responsibilities: A registered lobbyist who will lead advocacy on science & technology issues and interface with the Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches of the U.S. government. Will be responsible to ensure seamless coordination among staff on advocacy issues. Among other things, Will work closely with the Director of Science and Technology; and, will conference regularly with the Chief Veterinarian and the Vice President for Industry Relations. Will also consult regularly with the based Manager of Congressional Relations. Will consult with other staff, such as communications staff, to ensure the maximum positive impact of advocacy agenda. Will attend fundraising receptions, dinners and other activities for members of Congress and candidates. Take on other assignments and projects which may be outside of primary issue area as needed.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: JD Degree from a U.S. accredited university required. Must be eligible for membership in the District of Columbia Bar (current membership preferred). Must have 5+ years of related job experience. Experience on Capitol Hill preferred. Be highly self-motivated. Have an ability to work collaboratively in a diverse, team-oriented, work environment with members and staff. Be flexible and able to adapt to changing circumstances. Have an ability to analyze and interpret legislative and regulatory proposals and judicial pleadings. Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft persuasive and convincing legal arguments.
