Legal Secretary (Patent) The candidate will be responsible for: Preparing applications, including Provisional, Non-Provisional, Divisional and Continuation applications for filing, including ensuring all papers are properly prepared and filed with the USPTO. Prepare papers for filing responses, Notice of Appeals, Responses to Restriction Requirement, Request for Continued Examination (RCE), Appeal Briefs and other necessary filings to the USPTO. Monitor the daily docket to help ensure all filings are completed and filed in a timely manner via hand-delivery or EFS (Electronic Filing System) with the USPTO. Prepare correspondence and responses for mailing, faxing, courier, FEDEX, including the certificate of mailing, copy and filing of documents as per client instructions and/or protocol. Provides information to IP Docketing Department for items filed with and received from USPTO. Ensures correct changes are made in the file, docketing system, client information database and that all amendments are entered to the appropriate documents. Performs research as requested using Private PAIR, TARR and other reference sources. Obtain copies of documents as requested. Preparation of pleadings and filings in Federal Courts. Other duties as assigned to fully meet with requirements of this position. High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree or some college preferred. Should have 5+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have exceptional verbal and written communication and language skills. Should have current knowledge of E-filing (both USPTO & Federal Courts). Current knowledge of PTO rules and procedures required. Must have advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office software, including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint applications.
