Family Law Legal Assistant Duties: Provide a range of legal support and administrative job duties to attorneys. Organize, track, build and maintain case files, information, database files and records. Maintain contact with opposing party, counsel and clients involved in the case Transcribe dictation Keep clients informed regarding the status of their case Assist in preparation of requests for order, ex partes, petitions, responses, trial briefs, reports, correspondence, spreadsheets, declarations, pleadings and motions. Prepare subpoenas, discovery requests, and other case-related legal documents. Schedule client appointments, monitor calendars, and keep attorneys and clients informed of scheduled court dates. Assist attorneys with hearing/trial preparation (i.e. preparation of exhibits, witness lists, status reports, trial briefs and other case-related documents). Assist with answering phones, faxing, scanning, copying, processing incoming mail, processing outgoing mail, scheduling appointments, calendaring events, court filing, data entry, drafting retainer agreements.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: High school diploma required. Must have 2+ years of Family Law experience. Must have critical thinking skills, planning and organizing skills. Strong communication skills. Attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Proficient computer knowledge/skills. Individual must be reliable, dependable, with a positive, professional attitude & demeanor. Spanish speaking a plus.
