Legal Assistant
The candidate will support two attorneys specialized in the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), as well as assisting with office administration. File and maintain documents within a complex document management system. Draft and update employee benefit plan documents. Prepare/coordinate document production requests. Maintain docket calendar with court deadlines. Update and maintain employee benefit plan books. Maintain attorneys’ calendars. Schedule meetings and conference calls. Handle and route attorneys’ calls. Draft, type, and proofread outgoing correspondence and documents. Submit attorneys’ expense reimbursements. Calendar and follow up on deadline items (e.g., responses to government agency requests). Assist with other office administration duties as needed. Bachelor's degree preferred. Prior experience in Employee Benefits & Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) law is preferred. Proficiency in Document Management Systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Table of Contents/Authorities (TOC/TOA), Nuance PDF, Adobe Acrobat, and proofreading/formatting is required. Strong organizational skills required including timely electronic filing, paper filing, plan book updates. Detail-oriented; ability to multi-task and work within deadlines. Excellent written and oral communication skills essential. Strong interpersonal, organizational and project management skills.

Pros : Excellent open door and hands on policy allowed me to interact with attorneys and learn on a hands-on basis. Flexible schedules and work from home opportunities make the firm a great choice for me as a parent so I would not miss events with my children. A great work-life balance with friendly and interactive senior partners made the firm a happy and fun environment.
Cons : Pay tends to be a little lower than larger firms in the area which I believe could be easily fixed by management. I found that there was not much room to move forward in the firm but still a great place to work with engaging people.
