Privacy and Data Protection Attorney The candidate will support transactions and operational processes, influence product and service development (privacy-by-design), help mature privacy programs, such as GDPR and HIPAA, and provide general privacy/data protection advice across the organization. This role will report to the Director, Data Protection. Will review, draft, and negotiate customer/vendor contract terms regarding privacy/security. Perform vendor privacy risk assessments. Participate in the review of customer RFPs on privacy related topics. Perform Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA) and help organize and maintain the DPIA process. Assist with data mapping, classification and related data management programs. Respond to privacy-related customer/public inquiries. Develop privacy-related training materials and assist with training sessions. Work cross-functionally with business clients to provide routine privacy support. Help the Team to identify, develop and implement process improvements related to privacy/security. Help maintain privacy related notices, policies, standards, and guidelines. Help monitor practices to ensure ongoing compliance with applicable laws, policies, standards, guidelines and processes. Assist with annual compliance reviews. Other responsibilities as needed.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have JD degree with excellent academic credentials. License to practice law in California is essential. 3-5 full years practicing in the field of data privacy and security, in-house experience is required. Should have strong understanding of the EU/Swiss-U.S. Privacy Shield. Prior experience with HIPAA/PCI-DSS/FedRAMP is strongly preferred. Familiarity with emerging technologies, network and cyber security, infrastructure resiliency, cloud computing is essential.
