Manager, Health and Welfare
The candidate will be responsible for evaluating and comparing the competitiveness of existing company benefits with those of other employers by analyzing other plan, surveys and other sources of information. Planning, developing, and/or participating in area and industry surveys. Analyzing results of surveys and developing specific recommendations for review by management. Developing specifications for new plans or modifying existing plans to maintain company’s competitive position in labor market and compliance with regulations. Developing cost mitigation strategies to ensure plan financial efficiency and maintain competitiveness. Supporting the company’s fiduciary committees and plan administrators as needed, including review of claims and appeals. Preparing and executing, with legal consultation, benefits documentation, such as original and amended plan texts, benefit agreements and insurance policies. Instructing third party administrators to effect changes in benefits program and ensure prompt and accurate compliance with regulations. Assisting in the development of company bargaining proposals for employee benefits and analyze union requests. Obtaining and preparing cost data for company and union proposals and final settlements. Assuring company compliance with provisions of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) and other applicable regulations. Supervising preparation of reports and applications required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies, such as the Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor, SEC, insurance commissioners, and other regulatory agencies. Ensuring successful audits for required financial reporting. Reviewing and analyzing changes to state and federal laws pertaining to benefits and report necessary or suggested changes to management. Leading the selection, management and performance review of benefits consultants and vendors. Leading and/or participating in other HR-related projects or initiatives.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate must be legally authorized to work in the job posting country. Must have Bachelor’s degree or higher. Should have 7+ years of experience in benefits or benefits consulting. Must have 5+ years of experience in benefits strategy. Must have 3+ years of supervisory experience. Should preferably have accounting, Business, Finance, or Human Resources degree emphasis. CEBS, CPA, PHR / SPHR or other Human Resources, Benefits, or Finance/Accounting certifications is preferred. Master’s degree (MBA, JD degree, etc.) is desired. Retirement & Savings experience is a plus.
