Litigation - General (consumer)

Litigation Secretary/Paralegal Duties : The candidate working knowledge of State and Federal court rules and procedures, and E-filing capabilities in various state and federal courts. Preparation of shell pleadings and litigation documents in the appropriate format, including filing and service of pleadings in State and Federal court. Working cooperatively within the office and across offices on cases that are cross-staffed. Efficient workflow which includes the duplication, printing, mailing and circulating documents. Proofreading all work for both content and context. Preparing and maintaining individual attorney and office client files primarily in electronic form but also in paper filing systems to a lesser extent. Maintaining case calendars and attorney calendars. Calculation of discovery, pleading, and pre-trial deadlines. Preparation and submission of new client and/or new matter forms. Communicating with clients on regular basis via phone or email. Scheduling and coordinating meetings, hearings, court reporters and conferences. Handling administrative tasks to support office management.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements: The candidate should have 3 years Legal Secretary experience in litigation, preferably in a law firm. High School Diploma or its equivalent required. Certificate or Degree from a paralegal school is a plus. Prior use of a case management system (Mycase) preferred. Proficient with Microsoft applications with advanced level in Word and Outlook. Must have initiative, positive attitude, and attention to detail. Ability to organize and prioritize workload and anticipate what needs to be done. Proven work ethic with the ability to multi-task several complex assignments with tight deadlines. Outstanding written and verbal communications, ability to professionally interact with attorneys, staff, management, clients, courts, and vendors. Ability to work overtime if required. Prior use of Compulaw calendaring system preferred.
