A law firm seeks an experienced and motivated Insurance Defense Attorney to join its growing national and international insurance defense team in New York. This position offers the opportunity to work on diverse and complex cases, representing clients in high-stakes insurance litigation. Duties:

• Develop and execute effective litigation strategies for insurance defense cases.
• Manage all aspects of case preparation, including drafting pleadings, discovery requests, motions, and reports.
• Take and defend depositions, participate in hearings, and attend court conferences.
• Argue motions in court and assist in mediation and settlement discussions.
• Collaborate with clients, opposing counsel, and court officials to advance case goals.
• Represent clients in trials, mediations, and alternative dispute resolution processes.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior associates, fostering teamwork and growth.
• Participate in business development and client relationship-building initiatives.

Requirements:

• Litigation experience, with a strong focus on insurance defense.
• Demonstrated ability to handle complex legal issues and manage litigation processes independently.
• Experience drafting key legal documents, including motions, pleadings, and discovery.
• Skilled in taking and defending depositions, arguing motions, and trial preparation.
• Ability to interact confidently and professionally with clients, opposing counsel, and stakeholders.
• Admission to the New York Bar in good standing (required). Additional state bar admissions are a plus.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active membership in the New York State Bar (required).
• Additional state bar certifications are preferred.

Skills:

• Strong knowledge of insurance defense law and litigation practices.
• Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical abilities.
• Proven ability to manage a caseload, meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment and contribute to business development.
• Proficiency in negotiating settlements and managing client relationships.
