A law firm seeks a highly motivated associate attorney with 2-5 years of experience in privacy law and compliance. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, and CPRA, and will play a key role in advising clients on data protection strategies, drafting privacy-related clauses, and ensuring compliance across various sectors. This hybrid role offers the flexibility to work both remotely and from the office and requires strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.

Duties:

  • Advise clients on privacy law compliance, including GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, and other data protection laws.
  • Draft and negotiate privacy provisions in contracts, ensuring they align with client needs and legal requirements.
  • Review, update, and implement privacy policies, security practices, and compliance programs for clients.
  • Manage multiple projects and client matters simultaneously, prioritizing effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Conduct thorough legal research on evolving data privacy laws and regulations.
  • Guide data breach response and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver comprehensive legal solutions for clients.
  • Communicate complex legal concepts in clear, accessible terms to clients, stakeholders, and colleagues.

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of experience in privacy law, data protection, or transactional law.
  • Experience with drafting and negotiating privacy agreements, data security provisions, and related legal documents.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple matters efficiently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a deep understanding of privacy laws and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently while also thriving in a collaborative team environment.
  • Client-focused, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school.
  • Strong academic performance is preferred.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the bar of the state where the attorney will be practicing.
  • CIPP certification (preferred but not required).

Skills:

  • Expertise in GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, and other privacy laws.
  • Experience with data breach management, risk assessments, and compliance strategies.
  • High proficiency in legal research and analysis.
  • Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to draft clear, concise legal documents.
  • Negotiation and communication skills, particularly in complex or sensitive matters.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with clients and colleagues.
