Senior Counsel - Intellectual Property - Trademark
The counsel will be managing a global trademark portfolio, including trademark clearance, prosecution, enforcement, and licenses. Conducting and reviewing trademark searches globally. Provide clear and actionable legal counsel on risk analysis and mitigation strategies for trademarks, trade dress, product designs, copyrights and domain names. Preparing and prosecuting domestic trademark, trade dress, design patents. Managing enforcement of intellectual property rights, domestically and internationally, including cease & desist communications, UDRP, and TTAB proceedings. Drafting and negotiating coexistence agreements, consent agreements, settlement agreements and trademark and other IP license agreements. Provide legal support for trademark, copyright and domain name aspects of deals, licenses, agreements and other transactions including due diligence and review of agreements. Working with and supervising outside counsel, domestic and international. Training clients on IP principles and corporate policies and procedures. Building and maintaining strong client relationships. Working collaboratively within Legal and with business partners to identify and execute creative and practical legal and business solutions. Advising IP stakeholders on trends and developments in IP law. Working with and supervising the work of trademark paralegals.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate must hold a Law degree from an accredited law school and 5 years’ experience in law. Extensive experience in trademark matters with an emphasis on domestic and international clearance, prosecution, licenses, and enforcement, as well as experience in managing a global trademark portfolio. Prior law firm or USPTO experience, additional in-house experience a plus. Strong business acumen and ability to exercise sound commercial as well as legal judgment. Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple competing deadlines; strong organizational skills. Demonstrated team player; strong interpersonal skills; resilient and change-agile required. Collaborate well with team members and IP Group stakeholders at all levels. Have awareness of consequences of own actions and decisions, and impact of one’s behaviors on others and team; can anticipate and adjust as appropriate; set a good example for others. Excellent communication skills required.
