Profile

Junior Counsel
Duties: Draft and review contracts relating to a broad spectrum of topics. Provide support on a variety of legal matters, including school charter laws, board governance, commercial contracts, real estate and compliance. Assist with internal investigations and document management. Coordinate with the Regional Teams on a variety of legal matters, including responding to legal inquiries and reviewing documents for compliance with the law and standards. Drive the continuous improvement of standard form agreements, legal processes, organizational policies and document management. Work closely with the Human Resources department with respect to employee matters. Draft policies and training presentations. Conduct trainings. Assist with risk mitigation.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: JD Degree with a license to practice law in NY State is required. 5+ years’ prior experience as a licensed attorney, with some experience working in a law firm, preferred. Ability to shift priorities, multi-task and prioritize with a high volume of matters. Ability to exercise discretion and judgment with the handling of highly sensitive and confidential information. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop productive working relationships with multiple stakeholders across the organization. Meticulous attention to detail with an ability to produce high quality work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
