Job Title: Senior Consultant, Tax Controversy
Department: National Federal Tax Services
Experience: 3+ years of tax experience, 1 to 2 years of federal tax experience
Salary Range: $66,570 to $151,580 (dependent on factors such as skill sets, experience, and certifications)
Position Summary:
- Seeking experienced advocate with interest in resolving federal tax controversies
- Assist in resolving federal tax controversies for clients of all sizes, from large corporations to individuals
- Conduct legal research and provide oral and written advocacy for complex tax issues
- Utilize knowledge of IRS practice and procedure to achieve best outcomes for clients
- Curious about the new centralized partnership audit regime and its impact on passthrough taxpayers
Work Responsibilities:
- Conduct pre-examination audit readiness analysis
- Plan and represent clients during IRS examinations
- Represent clients in IRS appeals
- Draft Private Letter Rulings and 9100 relief requests
- Prepare tax opinions and memoranda
- Submit penalty abatement requests
- Provide litigation support

Qualifications:
Required:
- 3+ years of tax experience
- 1 to 2 years of federal tax experience
- Experience in corporate and partnership tax
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or other business-related field
- Ability to work within a hybrid model that requires in-person work 2-3 days per week
- Previous experience at a law firm, IRS, Treasury, Big 4, or CPA firm
- Ability to travel up to 25% based on work and client needs
- Active accreditation such as CPA, licensed attorney, Enrolled Agent, PMP, or CFA
Preferred:
- Advanced degree such as Masters of Tax, JD and/or LLM, Macc, or MBA
- Experience with federal tax controversy issues
- Strong research skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
