Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is looking for a skilled Technical Specialist or Patent Agent with semiconductor experience to join their team in Palo Alto. This role involves working closely with clients to draft and prosecute patent applications, with a focus on semiconductor technology. The successful candidate will work with a dynamic team of professionals in a supportive environment while engaging with cutting-edge technologies in the intellectual property space.

Duties:

  • Draft and file patent applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Analyze and evaluate the underlying technology of semiconductor inventions.
  • Provide technical support and strategic advice during the patent prosecution process.
  • Assist in litigation support and opinion writing as required.
  • Counsel clients on patent-related matters, offering technical insights into their inventions.
  • Collaborate with the client's scientific teams to define invention boundaries and scope.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Practical experience or exposure to semiconductor technology.
  • Previous experience with patent prosecution is preferred.
  • USPTO registration is a plus but not required.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively.

Education:

  • A bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or similar) is essential.

Certifications:

  • USPTO registration number is preferred.
