Active - Senior Attorney The candidate will join the Environmental Law Program, its national legal team. Under the supervision of the Deputy Legal Director or a Managing Attorney, serves as a legal resource for the Clean Transportation for All and Beyond Coal Campaigns; litigates environmental and energy cases supporting the Campaigns; helps design and implement legal strategies; and coordinates with campaign staff, policy staff, coalition partners, technical experts, and outside counsel. Incorporates Club’s commitment to equity and social justice in all aspects of work. Litigates key lawsuits under the supervision of the Deputy Legal Director or Managing Attorney; acts as lead attorney for Club in litigation and regulatory proceedings. Helps evaluate proposed litigation to advise national volunteer and staff leadership on the scope of Club participation in legal actions. Helps develop and plan programmatic litigation campaigns to support the objectives of Club’s Clean Transportation For All and Beyond Coal Campaigns; and assists in drafting legal components of strategic plans and reports. Advises federal and state policy teams on legal and equity issues that arise in federal, state, and local policy initiatives. Provides legal advice to Club membership; helps Chapters and groups with their local climate and energy-related legal programs and objectives. Performs miscellaneous duties as directed, including fund-raising and donor relations. Should have JD degree or equivalent and license to practice law, with at least 10 years of experience. must have excellent writing and analytic skills. Knowledge of environmental and energy law is required.
