Legal Assistant The candidate will work alongside Attorneys in the preparation, filing, and monitoring of various immigration and nationality law matters. Will understand the procedures and documentation required for cases to be successfully filed. Work with clients to gather the necessary information and documentation in a timely manner. Prepare forms according to information received from clients. Prepare letters and other documents on behalf of the employer/client. Finalize documents after review by Attorney in preparation for submission to the appropriate government agency. Monitor the status of all filed applications and petitions; initiate contact with government officials to obtain necessary information to alert Attorney of potential delays. Demonstrate mastery of multiple case types from simple to complex filings within particular practice area. Demonstrate increasing level of independence in handling cases and tracking filing deadlines to ensure timely preparation of all documentation. Demonstrate capability to manage a high caseload and work within strict timelines. Help Attorneys to evaluate cases and assist in providing case strategies and/or solutions to issues. Keep abreast of current regulations and procedures relating to filing applications. Perform research to determine prevailing wage and industry standards for occupations in the U.S. Bachelorâ€™s Degree or Paralegal Certificate is needed. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential. Previous experience in handling a high volume of cases is needed. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail is essential. Proficient in Microsoft Office is needed. Familiar with databases and/or case management software is essential.
