Senior Claims Attorney The candidate will contribute experienced insight towards claim coverage decisions, contract interpretation, and litigated claims. Serves as a subject matter expert for policy contract questions and provides written coverage opinions when required. Works closely with regulatory counsel to ensure compliance with state law. Responsible for the hiring, maintaining, and auditing of outside defense counsel panel. Responsible for the management and oversight of bad faith litigation. Provide legal analysis, advice and support to Claims on claim-handling strategies. Provide advice and support to Claims on good faith claims-handling. Provide legal analysis and advice to Claims regarding developments in statutory and case law. Prepare and present internal training to Claims on legal issues pertaining to applicable insurance laws and litigation. Draft and edit form letters. Provides input for continuous development of claims guidelines and best practices. Recommends potential product developments and process improvements. Provides technical claims recommendations in an effort to improve case outcomes. Interacts and communicates effectively with claims leadership and business partners.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have J.D. with an active license to practice law. 8+ years of relevant experience is necessary. Claim litigation experience is preferred. Leadership experience is beneficial. Strong technical understanding of property and casualty principles is necessary.
