Duties: Leads both demand and supply side activities Develops long term strategic plans for the entire spend area or Region Manages customer and supplier relationships to ensure that Category Strategies are highly aligned to current and future Business needs and that the supply base is capable of supporting these strategies Oversees implementation of category plan to ensure the underpinning process improvement and procurement activities deliver the expected business value in accordance with the strategic plans. Supports Global Category Lead in the development of long term strategic plans for agreed scope of spend area. Supports the Global Category Lead in strategic relationship management (customer and supplier) - to ensure that Category Strategies are highly aligned to current and future Business need and that the supply base is capable of supporting these strategies.. Works with relevant Global/Regional Category Lead(s) to ensure a fully integrated and customer-aligned wide category plan. Advises on and drives procurement strategies to make decisions necessary to purchase products and services in congruence with organizational objectives. Leads and drives complex sourcing projects/category team projects across relevant business area. Coordinates the introduction of new and modified products and services with appropriate departments. Performs total cost of ownership evaluations, performs supply-market research and conducts pricing audits and impact analysis for the pursuit of continuous cost improvements.. Uses appropriate methods and resources to develop and maintain market awareness, including current and future market conditions. Analyses and resolves issues raised in procurement audit reports. Advises on contracts and agreements for the supply of complex products and services with new and existing suppliers. Develops, evaluates or manages internal and external relationships with suppliers, Category Teams and other cross-functional teams.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree required, advanced degree (such as an MBA, MS, JD Degree) a plus. 5+ years applicable procurement experience. Pharmaceutical Procurement experience plus. Demonstrated leadership / management and business partnership skills. Strong communication, cross functional collaboration and influencing skills. Exceptional track record driving procurement’s value proposition. Supplier Relationship Management and Development experience. Ability to leverage a range of influencing techniques. Proven ability to manage change. Strong analytical and financial skills. Ability to work in highly complex and fluid environment. Experience leading and participating on cross-functional and/or global teams. People management experience, including managing teams of senior professionals and managers and establishing performance expectations a plus.
