Managing Editor Responsibilities: Lead the editorial staff in effectively releasing digital content including analysis of statutory, regulatory, and policy updates in accordance with established deadlines and through an effective digital publishing process. Duties include: Managing editor/writers and legal editors. Assisting deputy editorial director with project management of content enhancements and new product development. Planning and coordinating staff writing, updating and editing assignments to ensure that developments are timely and accurately integrated into the analysis, and that publishing deadlines are met. Ensuring that BBNA editorial standards are enforced. Hiring, developing, engaging and retaining a high performing editorial team with a focus on continuous learning and development. Providing ongoing coaching and feedback to staff and effectively managing individual and team performance to meet goals, assignments and deadlines. Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have 5 + years journalistic, legal, or business publishing experience, including reporting, writing, and substantive copy editing of complex material. Alternatively, a law degree and 5 yearsâ€™ experience in EHS-related work with strong research, writing, and analytical skills will satisfy this requirement; a demonstrated ability to effectively supervise/manage or lead projects and teams; knowledge of subjects covered by assigned products (s), including issues, trends, and target markets; understanding of publishing systems and workflows; excellent writing, reporting, researching, editing, and copy editing skills; knowledge of government and regulatory processes; strong organization and project management skills, including the ability to use project resources and staff effectively within established schedules, budgets, and other guidelines; excellent interpersonal skills to deal with customers, staff, and other business contacts inside and outside company's BNA;strong and thoughtful decision making, demonstrated expertise in writing, reporting, researching, editing, and copy editing skills; excellent interpersonal skills to deal with customers, staff, and other business contacts inside and outside Bloomberg BNA; demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to effectively hire, motivate, develop and engage a high performance work team; track record of success in meeting assignment deadlines; ability to effectively manage individual and team performance with a focus on performance management; strong analytical skills and decision making; Bachelorâ€™s degree, with coursework in Environment, Health and Safety topics preferred. Specialized education such as J.D. or graduate degree preferred for some publications.
