ProfileEmergency Management Specialist;GS 09 Duties: The candidate learns the scope and foundation of GSA emergency management responsibilities and assisting higher graded contract specialists with day-to-day operations. assists higher graded Emergency Management Specialists responsible for supporting crisis management, continuity of operations, and emergency/ disaster management policies and plans. Prepares and carry out a number of routine staff assignments, in support of higher graded specialists, related to development and maintenance of an effective Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP). Provides procedural support with training programs for emergency preparedness, damage assessment and disaster support. Assists higher graded specialists by providing basic support for limited segments of emergency/disaster plans and other related contingency programs. When responding to disasters, may serve as a team member, with responsibility for providing routine support duties in support of the team. Performs other related duties as assigned, to include, but not limited to, assisting with physical security, personnel security, operational security and HSPD-12 functions and tasks.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: The candidate should have master`s or equivalent level degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or an LL.B. or JD degree
Must have combination of graduate level education and appropriate experience that together meet the qualification requirements of this position
Must have 1+ year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level. Specialized experience must be directly related to: assistance in the review of emergency management practices and procedures in local, state, and/or Federal government sectors; application of qualitative and quantitative techniques to analyze and monitor the effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity of emergency preparedness responses; development, tracking and analyses of interagency/interdepartmental emergency preparedness exercises; and conducting and evaluating periodic exercises of Continuity of Operations Plan(s) and disaster responses.
