Trademark and Marketing Paralegal Responsibilities: Assists IP attorneys with management of IP (trademarks, copyrights) portfolio, including working with outside counsel regarding trademark prosecution (tracking registrations, renewals, office actions, and deadlines) for domestic and international marks. Requests information from business units and legal counsel as necessary, including gathering evidence for Statements of Use. Conducts trademark searches for prospective trademarks regarding availability of mark(s) for use and/or registration and report findings to managing attorney. Works with IP attorneys on cease & desist demands. Prepares and reviews trademark reports for IP attorneys and business clients. Serves as a primary contact responsible for reviewing and responding to e-mail questions directed to the corporate trademark, copyright, and/or branding mailboxes. Assist in developing reports, presentations, and training; drafting basic legal documents using templates; compiling evidence of use; and organizing/maintaining databases and legal files. Assist with other projects and workflows as needed, including team operations. Manages trademark vendor invoicing and billing using in-house billing tools. Assists IP attorneys with maintaining budget, including generating reports from billing tools and performing analysis of same.

Qualification and Experience

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree (required) and Paralegal certification (preferred). 4+ years of experience as a trademark paralegal in a law firm or corporate setting. Strong knowledge of US and foreign trademark law, policies, and processes. Excellent written and oral communication skills Other Skills & Other Requirements: Intellectual property experience. Ability to provide strong, prompt, and high-quality client service. Ability to work in a fast paced department; ability to manage tight timelines. Proficiency in and familiarity with MS Office, legal billing software (e.g., Serengeti), Saegis and internet searching. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Self-motivated; ability to work independently and with initiative but can also work as a team. Strong skills in research and investigation. Attention to detail and thorough. Highly organized and responsive. Ability to work independently, but proactively seeks guidance.
