Immigration Legal Assistant The candidate must have experience with consular processing forms and preparing the following petitions: I-751, I-130; I-360 (VAWA, SIJS) I-601, I-589, I-129F, N-400, and I-485. Must have experience with Immigration court filings (including EOIR-42B, I-589 and motions) and be proficient in proof of service requirements. Will assist legal staff with case compilation, file maintenance, case filings, copying and data entry. Should be able to fluently translate Spanish-language documentation and interpret for Spanish-speaking clientele. Will handle frequent client in-person, written, and phone communication.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Associate’s Degree or Paralegal certificate; Bachelor’s Degree preferred (English, History or Social Sciences). Should have 2+ years’ experience in family based immigration and/or removal defense; Fluent in English and Spanish; Strong oral and written skills; Attention to detail. Should have ability to manage, prioritize and handle multiple case types and deadlines; Friendly and comfortable working with refugees and survivors of crime & abuse; Comfortable with receiving directives from and working with multiple attorneys; Excellent Microsoft Office skills. Should be proficient with technology and adaptable to new technologies.
