Corporate Legal Residency Program - Temporary The candidate will work in the Legal Department. This is intended for entry-level applicants (i.e., recent law school graduates) and is a temporary position. Will review and analyze legal contract documentation for information and technology services contracts, software licenses, and other outsourcing and information services agreements for financial institutions and other business entities, and identify and summarize key contract data and information for electronic records. Also assist in researching legal contract issues. The attorney will work directly with senior attorneys on one significant legal research project that will include preparation of legal memoranda, with senior attorneys providing critiques to assist with improving legal writing skills. Senior members of the Legal Department will also offer a series of presentations to the attorneys on in-house legal functions and topics of general interest to in-house attorneys.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree and a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited US law school, as well as 1+ year of legal work experience (summer clerkships, legal externships and internships included). Candidates must have strong analytical and organizational skills and a good attention to detail. Should also have a good understanding of basic contract principles; familiarity with technology legal issues is helpful. Candidates must have strong computer skills and be able to learn new information technology systems with ease. Writing and communication skills are also helpful, as the attorneys must work collaboratively with colleagues. Must have good understanding of contract law, contract structure and contractual elements. Should have strong analytical and problem solving skills. Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines are needed. Should have good project management skills. Must have ability to understand and apply learned concepts. Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of management (internally/externally) are needed.
