ProfileSafety and Occupational Health Specialist, DJ 3 Responsibilities: The candidate will ensure the organization?s compliance with Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, guidelines, and policies. Administer Safety and Occupational Health programs including, but not limited to, Mishap Reporting, Respiratory Protection, Asbestos Control, Bloodborne Pathogens, Visitor Safety, and Quality Assurance. Oversee safety for administrative environments, facilities and logistic operations, animal care areas, and research and/or laboratory settings. Direct the organization's hazardous waste program, including radiological, chemical, and medical waste. Develop and issue policies and guidance for Location safety related efforts. Manage the organization's safety and health database.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Ph.D degree or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. with a major study in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene), or degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.
Should have 1 year of specialized experience which includes: managing safety programs for a medical research facility; analyzing existing practices and procedures to reduce or eliminate hazards; training employees on the application of good safety practices.
