Paralegal The candidate will support several attorneys dedicated to firm’s Midland Loan Servicing practice group which focuses on all aspects of commercial real estate loan servicing at its Overland Park, KS office. Will main responsibilities of this role include: Engagement of outside legal counsel including managing the process of engaging outside counsel including identifying counsel, issuing engagement letters, conflict waivers, legal expense budgets and processing related invoices through the approval process to final payment. Servicing and commercial real estate document management which involves establishing and maintaining various files and calendars relating to loan servicing and corporate related documentation including drafting legal powers of attorney, filings, certified copies and maintaining related files as required. Litigation management and support related to commercial real estate loan servicing and documentation with a general knowledge of litigation processes and specifically duties associated with e-discovery and document production including third party subpoenas and issuance of litigation holds. Must have a university / college degree with 0-1 year of professional experience and/or successful completion of a formal development program. Must have experience and knowledge of the above responsibilities with prior paralegal experience, ideally supporting the commercial real estate finance space with knowledge of litigation related activity. Should have strong communication skills, attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously with minimal supervision, and interact with attorneys and servicing personnel on multiple levels. Knowledge of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions, and ability to leverage that information in creating customized customer solutions are needed. Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations is needed. Knowledge of the major responsibilities, accountabilities, and organization of the legal function or department; ability to provide legal consulting, advice and assistance is needed. Knowledge of substantive and procedural law and ability to apply this knowledge to legal negotiation and formal litigation is needed. Should have knowledge of the contractual and legal matters related to expenditures (consulting services, maintenance, agreements, hardware and software acquisitions, outsourcing, etc.); ability to evaluate, interpret and improve the language used in contractual agreements.
