Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking an experienced senior associate or counsel to join its nationally recognized Employment and Labor practice. The ideal candidate will have at least six years of experience in counseling and defending both single-plaintiff and class/collective actions related to employment issues, with a particular focus on wage and hour cases, discrimination, harassment, and compliance matters.

Location:

  • Irvine, CA

Duties:

  • Counsel and defend clients in single-plaintiff employment cases and class/collective actions related to wage and hour issues and employment practices.
  • Provide advice on employment matters such as discipline/discharge, discrimination/harassment, restrictive covenants, ADA/FMLA compliance, and wage and hour issues.
  • Take and defend depositions, manage written discovery, and draft and argue motions.
  • Draft complex class and collective certification opposition briefs.
  • Draft and review employment agreements, separation agreements, position statements, employee handbooks, and other employment-related documents.
  • Conduct legal research and offer strategic advice on employment law matters.
  • Manage client engagements with excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in employment and labor law, specifically in both single-plaintiff and class/collective actions.
  • Strong experience in counseling employers on various employment issues such as discrimination, harassment, and wage and hour matters.
  • Experience in drafting employment-related documents, including agreements and handbooks.
  • Proficient in managing depositions, discovery, and legal motions.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic with a "can-do" attitude and interpersonal skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to the state bar in good standing (California preferred).

Skills:

  • Expertise in employment law, including wage and hour issues, discrimination/harassment, and workplace compliance.
  • Strong legal research and analytical skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to manage multiple client engagements and responsibilities simultaneously.
