Paralegal I The candidate will do legal document preparation and management, research and case management which requires knowledge of the legal system, terminology and procedures in addition to clerical and administrative skills. Will prepare immigration cases as assigned by manager for submittal to the appropriate government agency; begin to achieve a mastery of case types from simple to complex filings within particular practice area(s). Responsible for working with attorneys in the preparation, filing, and monitoring of various immigration and nationality law matters. Understand the procedures and documentation required for cases to be filed successfully and following firm’s service standards. Work with clients to gather the necessary information and documentation in a timely manner. Prepare forms according to information received from clients. Prepare letters and other documents on behalf of the employer/client. Finalize documents after review by Practice Manager, Team Manager and/or Attorney. Monitor the status of all filed applications and petitions. Run reports to assist in managing one’s own caseload .Assisting with the review of billing protocols and ensure that billing guidelines are met. Evaluate cases and assist in providing case strategies and/or solutions to issues. Provide company contacts with training and guidance regarding FIRM systems and general immigration matters. Engage in frequent contact with company client(s). Keep abreast of current regulations and procedures relating to filing applications. Works with clients to obtain documents and information necessary to prepare applications. Drafts support statements and organizes documentations for filling. Files and monitors applications and petitions with appropriate government agencies. Performs research to obtain information such as background on a company or industry, current wages, processing procedures, stand processing times, etc. Initiates contact with government officials to obtain necessary information to alert supervising attorney of potential delays or possible problems in the processing of an application. Should have 1+ years of corporate immigration experience. Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certificate is essential.

Get it together and have a heart. Quit expecting people to worship the ground associate attorneys walk on. Also the free bagels on Thursdays are nice but come on.

Pros : Your coworkers who are working in the trenches with you are genuinely good people and look out for each other.
Cons : Associate attorneys lack managerial training and are only focused on the number of cases done per day regardless of how many cases (160+) you are working on and how burnt out you are becoming. Training is mediocre at best, obviously it makes it appear a great place to work. A word of guidance to anyone considering this position: if they’re hiring in December you will get thrown in at their most busy time of year and likely be let go after it.
