Claims Manager, EPL
Duties: Leads a team of claim professionals who directly handle EPL claims. Manages the team’s KPIs including metrics relating to both claim operations (e.g., new, closed, current, signal reserves) and EPL data and analytics (claimant type, claim type, allegation type, venue). Manages file reviews on a monthly basis to ensure proper claim behaviors (e.g., thorough claim investigation (liability/damages/coverage), timely and accurate reserving, effective resolution strategy, as well as heavy client contact throughout the life of claim). Mentors the team on preparing timely, appropriate and concise large loss evaluations and reserve recommendations suitable for distribution to senior management. Mentors the team on conducting coverage evaluations, drafting appropriate correspondence and communicating positions in a timely and clear manner. Communicates regularly with Senior Claim and Underwriting Managers on large losses, reserving, account trends, coverage matters and industry trends. Contributes to overall management and reduction of expense by offering considerable claim experience, and monitors appropriate use of outside counsel and vendors. Professionally represents as needed in the marketplace and assists underwriting as needed. Responds to broker and insured inquiries with a high level of customer service and urgency. Other duties as assigned including directly handling claims as needed.

Qualification and Experience

Experience: JD degree. 7+ years relevant claims experience. Prior carrier experience managing EPL claim professionals. Ability to communicate across all levels of the organization and with external clients and others in a prompt, concise and appropriate manner. Team player willing to proactively assist the wider organization as needed. Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks and influence team’s time-management practices. Excellent writing skills. Demonstrated negotiation and analytical skills. Strong coaching, training and mentoring skills. Adjuster licenses where required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote) and Share Point.
