Job Overview
A dynamic and progressive law firm seeks an Immigration Attorney to join its growing team in Tucson, Arizona. As an Immigration Attorney, you’ll work on a range of cases, including removal defense, humanitarian relief, and family-based immigration matters. You’ll collaborate with a team dedicated to making a meaningful impact on the immigrant community through high-quality, client-centered advocacy.
Duties
- Manage a caseload involving removal defense cases in Immigration Courts across Phoenix, Florence, and Eloy, as well as affirmative applications with USCIS and the Department of State.
- Represent clients in hearings, including motions to release from detention, motions to terminate, and motions to suppress.
- Prepare and argue relief applications, including asylum, cancellation of removal, adjustment of status, and other forms of relief from removal.
- Work directly with clients to file affirmative applications for visas, asylum, U visas, T visas, and other humanitarian options.
- Conduct thorough investigations and discovery to gather compelling evidence supporting clients’ claims.
- Draft and file legal motions and briefs in the Immigration Court, Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), and Ninth Circuit . Court of Appeals.
- Advise criminal defense attorneys on the immigration consequences of criminal convictions through Padilla consults.
- Handle writs of habeas corpus and preliminary injunctions in . District Court.
- Perform consultations for potential clients seeking immigration legal services.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- License to practice law in any . state.
- All experience levels considered, including recent law school graduates.
- Proficiency in Spanish is a plus but not required.
- Strong commitment to the mission of protecting immigrant rights and advancing social justice.
Education
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
Certifications
- Admission to the Bar of any . state.
