Employment And Labor Counsel
The candidate responsibilities will include: Provide advice and counsel across all subsidiaries of TRT Holdings concerning human resources related issues, including wrongful termination, discrimination, disability accommodations, wage-hour, compliance with local laws and ordinances and labor-related matters including union avoidance. Supervise and/or partner with internal business teams and outside counsel in most effective and efficient manner. Identify, select and manage outside counsel where necessary for labor and employment issues. Monitor compliance with negotiated union contracts. Perform risk assessments and preventive labor training where necessary. Conduct and provide counsel on internal investigations of employment and labor-related complaints, ensuring claims are addressed promptly, thoroughly and appropriately. Partner with field-based resources to investigate and prepare responses to EEOC and state fair employment agency discrimination charges and other types of employment-related agency complaints such as federal and state departments of labor and health & safety agencies. Support and drive compliance and process development efforts to mitigate risk and enforce agreements. Analyze, draft, review and revise agreements governing employment relationships, union side agreements and contracts and labor relations matters as well as other types of contracts. Provide general legal support, advice and assistance to the legal department and operating businesses as needed. Should have 12+ years of experience focused on employment and labor law, with significant time devoted to advice and counseling in both areas. JD degree from accredited law school required. Active state bar license, TX preferred. Must be experienced strategist and negotiator for collective bargaining agreements. Must have experience performing investigations and judging credibility.
