Paralegal Specialist GS 09 - 11
The candidate will be conducting preliminary review of initial and final closing documents for completeness, accuracy and compliance with pertinent Federal, state and local laws, regulations and practices. Will be analyzing and evaluating documentation for administrative completeness for preparation of a document or amendment or for execution thereof on behalf of the Government. Responding to requests for Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act procedural guidance from program personnel. Maintaining law books and materials and performing legal research. Collecting information, summarizing and preparing weekly, monthly and quarterly workload, management plan and other management reports based on control systems in place.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: GS-11: The candidate should have 1+ year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. Must have specialized experience for this position includes: Work experience where the applicant has regularly performed legal research and prepared necessary documentation in the course of real estate closings, real estate transactions or other housing areas as well as responding to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests.

OR
It is substitute education for general or specialized experience as follows: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, OR LL.M., in an accredited college or university that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Some substitution of education for experience is permissible.

OR
GS-09: Must have 1+ year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience where the applicant performed legal research and prepared necessary documentation in support of legal recommendations and/or responses to legal proceedings, contracts or real estate closings.

OR
Must have Master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.B. or J.D. in an accredited college or university that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Some substitution of education for experience is permissible.
