Director of Employee Relations
Duties: Serves as an expert in employee relations providing guidance and oversight to investigations and sensitive complex employee issues, seeking legal counsel as needed. Ensures appropriate collaboration with legal and HR AVP and CHRO for those issues representing significant risk to the organization. Monitors employee relations-related actions, decisions, communications and training to ensure executives and managers understand and apply sound program practices. Develops workforce related metrics and reporting to drive key insights and decisions around employee relation programs and requirements, in consultation with relevant stakeholders, that will lead to a more efficient and motivated workforce. Utilize people metrics to drive key insights and decisions around growth and retention. Collaborates with regional and headquarters HR staff to ensure consistency with the implementation of and day-to-day decision making about matters related to ER/HR related policies, procedures and processes. Responsible for the overall training, compliance and audits of employee files for the entire organization. Implement process improvements, technology, training requirements, etc. that will improve the employee experience with HR related services. Expert in ER/HR related Kronos Dimensions modules and reporting. Responsible for SWK employee performance management process, including but not limited to job description templates, performance reviews and coaching and management practices. Develops and manages annual and quarterly ER-related projects and KPIs to effectively manage the ER function and continually innovate and improve the ER function. Manage unemployment claims processes and third-party communications, ensuring timely responses, hearing communications and attendance, and provides monthly reporting on same. Develop analytics to identify non-profit trends within a business unit via metrics. Makes recommendations for policy or process modifications and or educational training opportunities. Identify opportunities to reduce risk through risk mitigation analysis and by strengthening policies and providing training to HR Generalists, business leaders and managers, as needed. Make recommendations for policy or process modifications and or supervisory training opportunities. Ensures that the appropriate HR policies and procedures are applied based on business needs and, in partnership with the AVP of Human Resources, ensures compliance with federal and state regulations as they pertain to employment laws. Provide daily and monthly performance feedback and coaching to team members; monitors the development and training needs of team members in order to improve performance and promote continuous learning. Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned. Provide support and back-up to Human Resource Department as needed.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Management, Social Sciences or related field. 8-12 years years of human resources “Generalist” experience with an emphasis on employee relations, with at least 3 of those years in a leadership/management role in a large HR Department, or JD Degree from an accredited law school with experience in the handling and resolution of labor matters. Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, communication, and consulting skills. Ability to assess needs, influence, collaborate, deliver and partner at the most senior levels in the organization. Ability to apply conceptual, innovative thinking processes to the practical implementation of systems; Ability to be forward thinking and strategic with respect to HR processes and systems, creating a climate for change. Strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, insight into group dynamics, high tolerance for ambiguity and change, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to build collaborative, trustworthy relationships across functions and geographies. Strategic, enterprise-wide and systems thinking. Good analytical and deductive reasoning skills. Strong project management skills, including a proven track record of leading large, complex projects using standard project management practices and tools. Demonstrated superior Conflict management skills, strong understanding of employment law including but not limited to FMLA, ADA, EEOC, Affirmative Action; ability to influence leaders at all levels of the organization, strong communication skills both oral and written, customer orientation, strong analytical skills and the ability to apply those analytics to achieve problem resolution. Strong training, policy and development background. Knowledge and practical application of HR disciplines including employment and labor laws, employee relations, management and leadership development, performance management, organizational design, recruitment and compensation philosophies. Successful demonstration of launching and implementing multiple HR programs. Preferred: Masters, PHR/SPHR, Bilingual.
