Collector/Legal Assistant Duties: Collect delinquent accounts in accordance with the interests of Brumbaugh & Quandahl’s clients and applicable laws. Maintain legal portfolio to maximize collection accounts. Provide legal support activities under the direction of firm attorney(s) to include: Prepare lawsuit documents for filing with the court(s). Determine and request direction for summons services. Prepare default judgments. Review debtor responses and/or answers to court(s) to determine next action. Prepare discovery. Prepare cases for post judgment actions. Prepare garnishments, including tracking the case for next action. Review and monitor non-paying accounts for future actions. * Answer and respond to telephone calls and questions from outside third parties. Review and respond to incoming mail on a daily basis. Schedule and calendar court hearings. Negotiate balance, settlement, and/or payment of delinquent accounts. Maintain confidentiality of clients, firm information, cases, staff and contacts. Analyze accounts and utilized skip-tracing techniques to located debtors. Make and accept telephone calls in attempts to resolve delinquency. Negotiate balance, settlement, and/or payment. Generate correspondence to reinforce payment arrangements. Accept incoming telephone calls in attempts to resolve delinquency. Maintain confidentiality of clients, firm information, cases, staff, and contacts. Other duties as assigned.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent required. Associates preferred. Civil and litigation experience preferred. 2+ years experience with 1st and 3rd party collections, preferably consumer. Knowledge/Skills: Firm understanding of FDCPA, FTC, and other collection regulations, Excellent phone etiquette, Excellent verbal communication skills, Punctual, Knowledge of MS office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other programs related to courts and collections, Knowledge of Credit Bureaus & skip-tracing tools, Knowledge of legal terminology and judicial processes, Ability to negotiate and build relationships, Ability to present professional appearance and demeanor in a professional office setting, Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
