Profile

Paralegal-Legal Assistant Duties: Under supervision, will assist in coordinating the case load of Legal Department. Will be responsible for involvement in all phases of civil domestic violence proceedings, as well as domestic matters cases such as custody, child support, and divorce. Composing Legal Correspondences in English and in Spanish Conducting legal research on case law as related to immigration cases. Translating Documents and In-person interviews. Collecting Evidence (filing or accessing police reports). Assisting with drafting petitions, applications and specialized support letters detailing eligibility for visa classification and other immigration benefits. Communicating with clients regarding their case. Coordinating paperwork related to documents for immigration benefits, including affidavits of abuse and supporting documentation for individual cases. Assisting immigration attorneys with hearing preparation. Documenting all client encounters and contacts made on behalf of clients; completing and submitting activity logs and other documentation as appropriate; maintaining comprehensive client files. Learning procedural and processing requirements for various types of immigration cases. Participating in case review with other staff members. Participating in agency planning and organizational development; Other duties as assigned.

Qualification and Experience

QUALIFICATIONS: Paralegal Certificate plus 1 year of relevant experience or High School Diploma or equivalency, plus 3 years' experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Demonstrate commitment to immigrant rights, gender equality and issues of social and economic justice. Personally committed to advancing Enlace’s values, mission, goals and programs.
