Legal Assistant/Paralegal The candidate will work in a plaintiff's law firm specializing in civil rights litigation. Will be involved in all day to day aspects of case and firm management. Typical tasks include: client intake, discovery, pleading templates and trial preparation; maintaining case files; assembling case binders; telephonic and electronic communications with clients, counsel and court; state and federal filings (including preparing motions for filing); and proof-reading and editing of pleadings and correspondence; mail distribution and maintaining court and office calendar.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have a Bachelor degree or paralegal certificate. 3 years experience preferred. Familiarity with timekeeping systems, such as CLIO, as well as knowledge of Excel. Spanish language skills preferred. Advanced word processing skills. Knowledge of pleadings and Oregon court procedures. High attention to detail, including proofreading and editing documents. Highly organized, efficient and resourceful. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Comfortable around dogs. Will need to work approximately 25-30 hours per week.
