ProfileParalegal The candidate: Assists attorneys in analyzing and preparing data and/or legal documents for all areas of law and/or project management. Performs legal and factual research and investigation utilizing research databases and other resources as assigned by attorneys. Assists attorneys in responding to client inquiries from other State Farm departments and external associates. Maintains computer databases to organize and store legal information. Continuing legal education is strongly recommended for the paralegal positions is essential. Duties include, without limitation, legal research of regulatory and compliance issues; monitoring of bills and regulations; assisting counsel with legislative and regulatory testimony and advocacy; tracking implementation of enacted laws; compliance reporting; coordinating work with lobbyists, trades associations and government affairs; assisting with grass roots efforts; and following public policy activities. Should possess significant attention to detail, critical thinking skills and judgment, accountability, relationship-building and communication skills and must have a demonstrated ability to handle completing priorities and to work independently. Experience with legislative/regulatory duties, as well as formal paralegal education or a paralegal certificate, is preferred.
