Seattle office of our client seeks intellectual property attorney with 4 years of experience. The candidate will assist clients with Intellectual Property matters, focusing on companies with intellectual property issues in China or Chinese companies seeking intellectual property protection in the United States, primarily in the fields of medical instruments, computer science, electronics, and/or mechanical engineering. Will analyze, evaluate, and advise clients on legal issues relating to patent, trademark, copyright and other intellectual property rights in Chinese and English; draft, review, negotiate, interpret and advise clients on intellectual property related agreements, including non-disclosure agreements and intellectual property license agreements, and intellectual property provisions in commercial agreements, such as manufacturing agreements and supply agreements; prepare applications, amendments, office-action responses, reexamination requests, and appeals for patent and trademark matters; instruct foreign associates in Chinese and English on filing and prosecuting patent and trademark applications; and develop new clients with intellectual property issues in China and Chinese clients with intellectual property issues in the United States. Should have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or closely related field; passing the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office registration examination; license to practice law in the State of Washington. Must have experience working on patent applications filed with SIPO, supervising patent practitioners, and working with companies and/or industrial associations in implementing intellectual property strategies. Should have 2 years of experience working on U.S. intellectual property law matters, including preparing and prosecuting patent applications before the USPTO. Should have 2 years of experience conducting technical research or performing engineering duties in the fields of medical instruments, computer science, electronics, or mechanical engineering, 1 year of which must have involved Chinese related matters. Should be professionally fluent in spoken (Mandarin) and written Chinese (traditional and simplified).
