Assistant Attorney General The candidate will assume responsibility for representation and litigation on behalf of the Department of Child Safety (DCS). PSS attorney responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing advice on child welfare law and representing DCS in dependency, termination of parental rights, guardianship, and adoption matters statewide at the trial court level. PSS attorneys must comply with laws, rules, and office policies and procedures applicable to the performance of the job and must perform additional tasks as assigned by supervising personnel. Should have admission to, and good standing with, the Arizona State Bar is required (include on resume the date(s) of admission in Arizona and any other states). Candidate must have an active Arizona State Bar license. Knowledge needed: Knowledge and understanding of applicable case law, statutes, rules and regulations of state courts. Knowledge of legal techniques and the basic concepts of American Jurisprudence and of the formats utilized in the preparation of legal documents. Skills needed: Oral advocacy. Effective legal written work product; strong writing ability, Legal analysis and reasoning. Provide sound client advice. Uses good judgment regarding legal advice/recommendation. Effective case presentation/trial work, Abilities needed: Takes ownership of assigned case load. Displays appropriate courtroom demeanor. Builds client relationships, Demonstrates negotiation skills and persuasive abilities.
