Senior Legal Counsel, Commercial Litigation The candidate will have wide responsibility for cases touching on all aspects of the company's business, in the US and worldwide. The docket will be varied and ever-changing, including defamation, copyright, privacy, complex commercial, and regulatory litigation. Directly engage with the business and your colleagues across the legal department to provide legal advice and resolve pre-litigation disputes. Manage all aspects of commercial litigation in the US and internationally, including hiring outside counsel, developing strategy, fact-finding and witness preparation, settlement negotiations, mediation, and trial. Supervise and partner with outside counsel to provide quality, cost-effective representation to the company. Work cross functionally with other groups within the company's legal department on projects and policy matters impacting the company more broadly. Keep abreast of litigation trends and advise the business on litigation risk and pre-litigation disputes. Must have litigation experience at a major law firm or in-house. Experience with litigating privacy, defamation, and/or media-related cases would be a plus. Should have a desire to learn the company's business and inner workings and to work collaboratively to find answers, documents, and witnesses. Intellectual curiosity around legal issues impacting tech companies, such as emerging privacy laws, is essential.
