Guardian Ad Litem Office, 7th Circuit-paralegal Specialist Ops Duties: The candidate performs legal research for attorneys, subject to supervision. Maintains case files, court calendars, and litigation timetables. Prepares case summaries, pleadings, orders, and summons under the supervision of an attorney. Drafts and files pleadings, motions, and memoranda for attorneys. Performs related work as required. Gathers and analyzes research data. Answers routine questions regarding legal issues. Qualifications: Should have completed a training program to become a legal assistant, a paralegal, a legal paraprofessional, or a lawyer's or attorney's assistant; or A degree or certificate in legal technology, legal administration, legal studies, or allied legal services; or Graduation from a school of law; or A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in allied legal services; or Two years of experience involving paralegal work; or Two years of experience in legal secretarial work. Knowledge of legal terminology. Knowledge of the law and legal procedure. Ability to conduct fact-finding interviews. Ability to comprehend and interpret information. Ability to research legal documents and legal references. Ability to record information accurately. Ability to perform legal writing. Ability to maintain files. Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
