Duties

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications with relevant patent offices
  • Prepare detailed invention descriptions and draft patent claims to outline protection scope
  • Manage patent prosecution timelines, ensuring timely filings and responses
  • Develop and implement strategies for building and maintaining patent portfolios
  • Monitor patents, coordinate renewal, and manage maintenance activities
  • Represent clients in patent disputes, infringement litigation, and opposition proceedings
  • Prepare legal arguments, motions, and briefs for court or administrative hearings
  • Clearly and effectively communicate complex legal and technical information to clients and colleagues

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in patent law, focusing on patent prosecution
  • Technical background in engineering, computer science, life sciences, or a related field
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to convey complex legal and technical concepts persuasively
  • Strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborative mindset with a proven ability to build relationships with clients and colleagues

Education

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited institution

Certifications

  • Registration to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
  • Licensed to practice law in the state of Colorado
