A law firm seeks a highly skilled Private Client Associate to join its team in Minneapolis. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience in estate planning with an emphasis on transfer tax planning, trust and estate administration, and preparation of estate tax returns. Duties:

  • Provide estate planning advice with a focus on transfer tax planning for high-net-worth individuals and families.
  • Draft and review trust agreements, wills, and other related documents.
  • Manage trust and estate administration, including overseeing probate proceedings and administering trusts.
  • Prepare gift and estate tax returns, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Work closely with clients to develop tailored estate plans and provide ongoing legal counsel.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, including tax advisors and financial planners, to deliver integrated services.
  • Handle matters related to wealth transfer, asset protection, and tax-efficient estate planning strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and organized client records while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with firm policies.
  • Provide guidance and support in fiduciary matters, including representing clients in court when necessary.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of three years of experience in estate planning and trust and estate administration.
  • Strong focus on transfer tax planning, including experience with gift and estate tax returns.
  • Collaborative and client-focused with an ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated and able to produce high-quality work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent academic credentials and strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with high-net-worth clients and complex estate planning issues.
  • Admission to the Minnesota State Bar is required; admission in other jurisdictions or willingness to seek admission is preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Minnesota State Bar is required.
  • Admission in additional jurisdictions (., Wisconsin, Iowa) is preferred.

Skills:

  • Expertise in estate planning, including gift and estate tax planning.
  • Proficiency in trust and estate administration and probate proceedings.
  • Strong drafting skills, with experience in creating wills, trusts, and other estate planning documents.
  • Knowledge of tax laws related to estates, trusts, and wealth transfer.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and provide tailored legal advice to clients.
